Proposal for identity film

Size 0
Director: Becky Thwaites

Synopsis: A short fictional film showing the point of view of a teenage girl obsessed by the need to be skinny; her face wont be on show it will be filmed as if it is through her eyes. The story follows a girls everyday life and the extreme extent she goes to be super skinny, which is influenced by the media she comes across everyday. For example, it will show her looking through magazines at skinny and 'perfect' celebrities and models and coming across everyday adverts on TV and on billboards. There will be no voice over, just music, so it creates the mood for the audience.

Who are the target audience?: The target audience is to teenage girls who are also influenced by the media to look 'good'.

What message do you hope the audience will understand from your film?: From my film i hope that the audience will see how celebrities and the media effect teenagers to look a certain away, i hope that they realise that being skinny isn't being beautiful.

Setting(s): It will be filmed mainly in her bedroom and house.
The gym where she is addicted to exercise.
A restaurant to show her desiring something but goes for the smallest, no- fat option.
It will film her everyday life, for example walking down the road and seeing billboards with skinny models on.

Cast: Alixe Fowle, a slim girl who wants to be even skinnier, just like celebrities and models found in the media.

Crew: Becky Thwaites

  1. The idea seems fine Becky but I'm not getting a sense of story here - just a brief description. How will her story start? How will you show her influences? Will you talk to just her or other people around her? Where will you film her? How will the film end? How will it all be held together - your voice or hers? Redraft for Friday.
